Harpreet was exposed to real estate appraising at an early age—his father was an appraiser. As a result, he has always had a keen interest in the real estate industry.
“My father has been a great role model with his hard work and dedication, so following in his footsteps felt like the right decision. I became an appraiser in 2002.”
Being an appraiser is a rewarding profession for Harpreet for a few reasons.
“I enjoy having the ability to see different types of homes and changes in the marketplace and working with a variety of clients, including lenders, real estate agents, and property owners.”
Operating in the fast-paced Vancouver region means deadlines can be tight at times.
“As a result, being willing to go above and beyond so you can deliver urgent reports is crucial. This is particularly important when clients need reports within hours of inspection, such as when they must remove subjects on properties to avoid losing their deposits.”
Even though deadlines can be aggressive at times, professionalism must always be maintained.
“For me being professional means providing accurate and reliable valuation reports in a timely fashion while adhering to a high standard of ethics set by the AIC.”
Going forward in 2024 it looks like the Vancouver region marketplace will be an active one.
“In February, the median sale price for a detached home in Fraser Valley was $1,449,500–up 9.5% vs. this time last year. In Vancouver East, the home price index for a detached home in February 2024 was $1,840,700—up $10.3%, and in Vancouver West, it was $3,301,000—up 3.9%.”
